Metolius BRD - Belay Rappel Device (Fall 2007)

Metolius BRD - Belay Rappel Device (Fall 2007)

$19.95

ALL CLIMBING SALES ARE FINAL. With the creation of the BRD by Metolius - we have achieved a simple - safe and bombproof belay/rappel device. The principle behind the BRD is very simple: as the load of a falling climber is applied - the carabiner is pulled into the scientifically engineered rope slots and the rope is squeezed between the carabiner and the BRD. The result is that a tremendous amount of friction is generated - allowing the belayer to easily catch long - hard falls with relatively light hand pressure. For rappelling - the BRD will give you a relatively slow and controlled (and we feel safer) rappel. If the rappel is moving too slowly - you can re-orient the device for a speedier descent. FEATURES of the BRD - Belay Rappel Device by Metolius A versatile - lightweight belay/rappel device w/engineered rope slots which means added control via increased friction on the rope Single or double rope compatible (8 mm to 11 mm ropes) Increased thermal mass and cooling fins to dissipate heat Hard anodized for longer wear CNC machined from 6061 T-6 aluminum Cooling fins to dissipate heat more efficiently Available with or without the Element locking carabiner SPECIFICATIONS: Weight: 2.9 oz. Petzl Grigri Belay Device (Fall 2007)

$94.95

More comfortable when holding tension - and smooth on a lower with its lever release - the Grigri the preferred device when it comes to aid climbing simplicity and reliability. The Grigri is excellent for belaying a leader or second - and single rope descents. FEATURES of the Grigri Belay Device by Petzl Self-braking system: if the rope suddenly comes under tension (e.g. in a fall) - the cam pivots to pinch the rope - thus helping the belayer stop the climber's fall While lowering the climber - 1 hand controls the rope to regulate speed and braking - while your other hand holds the brake lever open Stamped diagram on side of Grigri illustrates proper setup for less chance of confusion Works well for rappelling on single ropes while cleaning or setting a route paying out rope is done using both hands arresting a fall is done by holding the free end of the rope for lowering and rappelling - the rate of descent is controlled by the hand holding the free end of the rope (the rope is released with the handle). For use with single ropes between 10 and 11 mm in diameter SPECIFICATIONS: Weight: 225 g For use with single ropes between 10 and 11 mm in diameter Materials: aluminum side plates Materials: stainless steel cam and friction plate Materials: reinforced nylon lever arm For use with single ropes between 10 and 11 mm in diameter 3-year guarantee

Trango B-52 Belay Device (Fall 2007)

Trango B-52 Belay Device (Fall 2007)

$18.95

The B-52 Belay Device by Trango has been recently updated. The B-52 is the first belay device designed from a total performance point-of-view and with the refinements we've made recently - its even better. We've beefed up the small end of the device or added durability and subtly rounded the edges and curves making it even smoother to operate. Rappelling with the B-52 is a thing of beauty. We've all gotten used to the jerky-at-the top/terrifying-at-the-bottom rappel sequence offered up by most belay/rappel devices. The B-52 changes all that with extremely smooth starts and controlled descents all the way down. For advanced climbers and guides doing multi-pitch routes - the B-52 can be used as an in.autobloc in. device that will lock the rope automatically when the leader is belaying one or two seconds. In a pinch - the B-52 can be used as an emergency ascender. FEATURES of the B-52 Belay Device by Trango Positive stop with a wide variety of rope diameters Lightweight Emergency ascender Blissfully smooth rappels with all your different ropes Autobloc Easy to rig SPECIFICATIONS: Weight: 2.5 oz/ 71 g Strength: 23 kN ALL CLIMBING SALES ARE FINAL.

Trango Jaws Belay Device (Fall 2007)

Trango Jaws Belay Device (Fall 2007)

$24.95

The Jaws by Trango is the most versatile belay device you can buy. Period. When you need a positive and secure lock-off - run the brake side of the ropes through the unique double V-notches. In this configuration - Jaws has more stopping power than any other belay/rappel device we can find. Turn Jaws around and run the braking rope over the smooth side when you need a lightning fast feed on trad or alpine terrain. Don't worry about catching a fall - because in this mode Jaws has similar braking abilities to our Pyramid. Rappels are smooth and controlled with Jaws. The large rope slots make it easy to set up - the V-notches control the speed and the flat rope path really prevents kinking. For low-angle or long double rope rappels - you can turn Jaws around so the free end of the rope runs over the smooth side. SPECIFICATIONS of the Jaws Belay Device by Trango Weight: 68 gm (2.4 oz) Strength: 20 kN Twin Ropes: 7.5mm Half Ropes: 8.2mm Single Ropes: 8.9 - 11mm ALL CLIMBING SALES ARE FINAL.

Trango Pyramid Belay Device (Fall 2007)

Trango Pyramid Belay Device (Fall 2007)

$19.95

The Pyramid Belay Device by Trango could be the best all around belay/rappel device on the planet. The result of intensive R and D work - it is light - compact - durable and can smoothly handle just about any rope combination. The machined cooling fins on the Pyramid work both to keep it cool and to make it less droppable - and the pivoting center pin lets you flip it over to customize the feed of your ropes without effecting its stopping power. Rappelling is always controlled and jerk-free and the flat rope path virtually eliminates kinks. The elongated slot for the center pin makes it easy to rig the Pyramid with stiff or fat ropes and the burly retaining cable will last as long as you own it. SPECIFICATIONS of the Pyramid Belay Device by Trango Weight: 68 gm (2.4 oz) Recommended Rope Diameters: Twin Ropes: Not recommended Recommended Rope Diameters: Half Ropes: 8.5mm Recommended Rope Diameters: Single Ropes: 9.7 - 11mm ALL CLIMBING SALES ARE FINAL.
